Basic Tiling Installation Steps
Tiling for the first time can somehow pose as a mind boggling experience for you. Of course, there are basic tiling installation steps that can make your work easier. The first thing to consider would be to buy durable tile floors. You can select from a wide variety and come up with the one that may seem suitable for your home.
BuildDirect offers different kinds of porcelain and ceramic tiles. They have the Sonora Mexican Volcan Series, the Kaska Turkish Ceramic tiles, the Takla Porcelain tiles and other Omni porcelain tiles.
The next step would be to prepare the important tools that you will use in tiling. These tools should include a tile saw, a tile cutter, tile nibblers, a grout spreader, a cutting tile jig and any homemade stick that you can use as gauge.
You also need to ensure that the site is clean and the surface is dry. After this, you need to remove any flakes. Make sure it is as flat as possible. You can use your homemade stick to guide you in plotting the tiles on their right position.
Plotting the tiles will enable you to make the necessary adjustments, particularly when it comes to the border position of the tiles. You can then apply a waterproof tile adhesive. Waterproof adhesives are advisable; especially in kitchen areas where in contact with water is unavoidable.
Make sure that the adhesives you are buying are already pre-mixed. Thus, there are also some tile adhesives, which will require you to add water.
In the grouting stage, allow the tile adhesive to harden for at least twenty-four hours. This is before you apply grouting paste. There are different colors of grouting paste you choose from. The most common would be the colors grey, brown and white. After grouting, let it stand for one week; or until the grout adhesive is really dry.
