Installing Drywall

There are useful instructions on how you can install drywall. You need to first estimate the materials that you need. The materials needed should be proportionate to the size of the drywall and to the size area that you will have your drywall installed in.

You need to then draw a sketch plan for the area where you will be installing the actual drywall. You can include the ceiling areas and the wall in the plan. The sketch plan can help you see possible errors and problem areas that you might encounter during the installation.

Make sure that you install the gypsum boards perpendicular to the joints. After applying the gypsum boards to ceilings, install it to the walls. If moisture poses a problem on your installation, you can select some water resistant gypsum boards; which are available in the market. This is very good in excessive moisture areas.

The next step would be to measure and cut the wallboard using a cutting knife or T-square. This is good for more accurate measurements. After cutting the wallboard with the right measurement, you can apply the drywall to the roof joist by using the nails. Make sure you do not put too much pressure on the nails as doing so might split the coating paper.

After installing the nails, you can then apply finish coating on the nails above the tape. For a regular type of wall, the tape should wait for at least twenty-four hours to dry. After this, you can already apply a coat finish.

The National Gypsum Company offers quality drywall products like the XP Hi-Impact Wallboard.
