Patching a Hole in your Drywall
Patching a hole in your drywall should be done in the right way to avoid severe problems later on. If you encounter small holes on your drywall; which is caused by shallow dents or nail holes, you can apply a compound patching with the use of a taping knife or putty.
You would need to let the compound dry, and then apply sanding over it. Prime it; and then apply paint. If a nail’s head sticks out onto the surface, you can fix it by adding pressure to resink it again in your drywall. Then, install a new nail beside it so as to hold it onto its frame. You would then need to apply compound patching. After the application, you can just let it dry. Then you can again sand, prime and paint the surface.
Although not all drywalls are the same, you still need to choose a durable drywall. This is to make sure that it is really durable and made up of high quality materials so as to avoid hole-problems in the future.
The National Gypsum Company offers hi-quality drywall like the XP Hi-Abuse Wallboard. The XP Hi-Abuse Wallboard uses Proform Ready Mix to make its compound mixes stronger and durable. Thus, usage of the XP Hi-Abuse drywall is advisable on areas where mildew, mold, surface durability and indentation are a main concern.
