For initial application of texture paint, you need to remove first any loose paint and clean any mildew stains. You can use stain removers for this. Then you need to clean all the dust with a damp cloth. Let it dry before you apply the textured paint. Thus, texture paints usually dries after two hours in warm areas. It may take a longer drying time if placed in places with cooler temperature.
